Precision farming for sustainable tomato production in Italy

Company : C.I.O.
Groups : ARP (grower organization), CITIMAP (Center for Innovation in the use of remote sensing in the mechanical industry for Precision Agriculture), AZIENDA TADINI (experimental farm)
Precision farming is one of the few viable ways to improve sustainability performance in the most advanced agriculture.
The project involves the use of modern technology such as drones, cameras, special sensors, GPS, and software.
The goal is to rationalize resources (fertilizers, pesticides, water, fuel etc ...) used in agriculture.

This system is expected to reduce areas of overlap, improve the efficiency of the products delivered through a precise distribution. In the future, probably, we could also reduce the area of land worked, with a positive impact on preservation of soils.

The starting date is July 2011 and end at December 2012
