Our next SAI Platform Conference
will take place in Beijing, China
from 24-26 April 2017
The Conference on “Feeding the World’s Rapidly Growing Urban Population” will provide new insights and bring together Chinese government authorities, international and national agri-food companies, vital financing entities, NGO’s and other stakeholders under one roof.
By holding the event in Beijing we can offer a better experience for our members and interested ones in terms of travel access and associated facilities/resources, though importantly, the opportunity to interact with both Chinese food businesses and government officials.
On this occasion, SAI Platform will celebrate its 15th Anniversary. We hope that you will join us in China not only to celebrate the progress we have made together but also to use the opportunity to learn more about food production in this wonderful country.
As a country which is both a major importer and producer of agricultural commodities, now and in the future it is an exciting country to engage with as a major opportunity to ensure sustainable agricultural practices are supported and implemented.
Did you know that:
- • China accounts for only 10% of arable land worldwide, though it produces food for 20% of the world's population
- • China ranks first in worldwide farm output, primarily producing rice, wheat, potatoes, tomatoes, sorghum, peanuts, tea, millet, barley, cotton, oilseed and soybeans
- • China has got more than 300 million people associated with agriculture
- • Agriculture contributes 12% of China GDO
China’s future development is important for the whole world because China is strategically important. Its development serves as a microcosm of the challenges and opportunities facing much of the rest of the world.
